The Process

To create your one-of-a-kind animation that meets your specific needs, I take the time to understand your brand, business goals and audiences.  Don’t worry if you’re new to the animation game. I’m here to step you through the process. Here’s what I’ll be covering:

Step 1 - The brief: This is a conversation in which I ask you about the type of animation you need including what information it need to include and the look and feel you’re going for.

Step 2 - Developing the concept: It’s here that I do my research, pull together my ideas and present you with the visual concept and topline story for your animation.

Step 3 - Scripting: The narration for the final video is written now, either by me or your creative team. A great script effectively communicates your message and takes the viewer on the journey.

Step 4 - Storyboarding: Once you’re happy with the script, I create a storyboard that details the visuals of your animation scene-by-scene. It’s here that you’ll get an idea of the action, layout and storyline.

Step 5 - Style frames: Using the approved storyboard, I then fully illustrate a few frames to give you an idea of the final colour palette, text treatment and style variations.

Step 6 - Voice-over: If your animation requires voice-over, we do that now. I work with a number of professional voice-over agencies, but if you have preferred talent that really nails your brand personality, let me know.

Step 7 - Animatic: It’s getting exciting now! This is where we start putting the animation together so you can see a video version of the storyboard together with voice-over.

Step 8 - Animation: This is where I get head-down in my studio so that I can bring your animation to life, adding motion to graphics, characters, and refining details until they’re just right.

Step 9 - Sound design: Sound can make a huge difference to animation, so this is where I add licensed music to your video or source sound effects to ensure your video really hits the mark.

Step 10 - Final delivery: Now it’s over to you. I deliver the file in the format you require it (usually MOV or MP4 file) and can also help you if you need advice on how to host your video so it’s ready for the world to see!
